Expert Reviews
James Halliday Wine Companion
“Dazzling quartz-green, this has a purity and restraint that is in the fountainhead of all great rieslings. It is as much to do with what it doesn’t have (overt acidity, extract, etc) as its many high points. Free-run juice from high quality grapes has its own reward. Part of this wine has been held back for release in 8-10 years time (at a very different price no doubt).”

“The 2018 Skilly Ridge Riesling is a classic, traditional style of Clare Riesling. It’s pale, lean and dry, with crisp notes of lime sherbet, a medium-bodied palate with something like the texture of rainwater, and an extended, slightly chalky finish. It should age well for up to a dozen years or more.”

“it’s packed with sweet lime flavour, honey and lime leaf, comes over as juicy and quite forward, with equally succulent acidity, a light flinty texture, and a glossy smooth finish of good length. Delivers a big mouthful of Clare Riesling, though I’d say it’s very much at its best around about now.”
